About Ted Reyes

Ted Reyes is a writer, composer, music producer, and visual artist. He was the Director of Production at MTV Networks in New York City for over a decade working on legendary shows such as Behind the Music, Rock Docs, Love and Hip Hop, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, South Park, and Jersey Shore, as well as major tentpole events like the MTV Video Music Awards, and VH1 Hip Hop Honors. He also wrote articles for VH1 News and was one of the few independent journalists to get invited to the historic presidential inauguration of Barack Obama on January 20, 2009, in Washington DC.

He moved to Los Angeles in 2022 to work as the Editorial Director of APM Music, the world’s premier production music library co-owned by Sony Music Publishing and Universal Production Music.

Ted began his musical journey at the age of 14 with his band The Freesouls, which signed with BMG Records. The band released two albums and scored a hit that quickly became a classic, “Shindig.”

He moved to New Jersey after college and formed the band The Happy Analogues. The band released four albums and several EPs and singles, which established them as the most prolific Filipino-American bands in the scene.

Ted Reyes continues to write and produce music as a solo artist, as part of the synth duo Scarlet Gum, and as his electronic music outfit, Defmod Network. He also writes and produces for artists in the scene.
